The Case Against Return of the Jedi

Herein lies a lengthy discussion on Return of the Jedi's inability to sustain relevance as time goes by. If any reference to the Star Wars original trilogy with negative connotations offends you, then you probably shouldn't read the following.

  1. i love ewoks....seriously, i can't even get myself to watch the originals anymore at all with the exception of Empire Strikes Back. but i'm not gonna go out of my way to watch it.

Lucas is a giant fraud. and so far i've kept falling for his routine hoping for another piece of that magic i experienced as a kid. I'm not just talking Star Wars here, either. The last Indy experience is just as big of a let down, though more entertaining than the prequels( no knock on Indy himself though).

  2. I fell for his same shit with the last Indiana Jones. While watching it I knew it was mostly shit but I still made excuses to like it. I mean how can an Indiana Jones movie be bad?! Well, Lucas was able to kill that too.

  3. First,

I never want to talk about the final Indiana Jones film; ever. My reaction would have been milder if I was four years old and just witnessed Santa Claus get executed by terrorists.

Brilliant analysis; I never realized how little Han Solo had to do with that film. I am speechless; I now have to rethink some of my decisions that I made in the past.

  4. While I agree with you for the most part, this movie could have been a lot better with the original planned ending in which Han Solo died and Luke kind of rode off in to the sunset like the Lone Ranger.

At the very least, this explains why the movie spends an awful lot of it's first 1/3 focusing on Han. He was to have a tragic ending to his story arc that just never came to pass.

    Interesting, thought-provoking piece though. Kudos!
