  1. This movie is all about pretense to coolness. It's moronic message seems to be that violence is ok AND cool as long as you are in the good camp instead of the bad. Then you can do what the bad guys do and be cool, while in contrast they suck. You kind of slowly get pulled into agreeing to enjoy the movie, through the use of the voice-over and the teenage concerns with which we can all identify with. But the moment I found myself guffawing about his mom having an aneurysm at the breakfast table, I realized that something was seriously wrong somewhere. I realized then that I had been tricked. This movie has absolutely no heart whatsoever. It is a movie of monsters and monstrous acts, and will create and be enjoyed by monsters. It pretends to be cool and you will think you are cool because you like it... but in reality it will rob you of every last vestige of empathy and humanity and true concern and understanding for human beings. It is an excuse to glorify insanity, stupidity and violence, masquerading as hip. "It's just fantasy" you may say.Sure - but your reactions are not fantasy. If you find yourself laughing at the sight of an eleven year old girl impaling people with a knife, then know that you have been successfully desensitized and brainwashed in the same fashion her movie dad did it to her.
